Sow Farms:
  • Handles farrow to weaning stages
  • Individually hand fed farrowing areas
  • Climate Control Systems in place
  • Typcially sow farms consist of 2,800 adult breeding females
  • Manure can be stored under the barn in deep pits or it can be stored in outside storage structures
  • Sow Farms follow a strict bio-security program that consists of employees and visitors showering in
  • Temperature, Feeding and Ventilation is controlled automatically
  • Water meters monitor and record water usage - a sow farm uses 4-7 gallons/water/day/sow
  • Adequate tillable land for manure application is required
Nursery Farms:
  • Arrive from sow farms between 12 - 15 pounds
  • Stay in the nursery for approximately 7 weeks
  • Leave at approximately 40-50 pounds
  • Typically a nursery barn holds 4,400 head
  • Manure can be stored under the barn in deep pits or it can be stored in outside storage structures
  • Nursery Farms follow a strict bio-security program that consists of showering in
