Country View Family Farms offers 3 types of farms:
- Sow Farms
- Nursery Farms
- Finisher Farms
Sow Farms:
- Handles farrow to weaning stages
- Individually hand fed farrowing areas
- Climate Control Systems in place
- Typcially sow farms consist of 2,800 adult breeding females
- Manure can be stored under the barn in deep pits or it can be stored in outside storage structures
- Sow Farms follow a strict bio-security program that consists of employees and visitors showering in
- Temperature, Feeding and Ventilation is controlled automatically
- Water meters monitor and record water usage - a sow farm uses 4-7 gallons/water/day/sow
- Adequate tillable land for manure application is required
Nursery Farms:
- Arrive from sow farms between 12 - 15 pounds
- Stay in the nursery for approximately 7 weeks
- Leave at approximately 40-50 pounds
- Typically a nursery barn holds 4,400 head
- Manure can be stored under the barn in deep pits or it can be stored in outside storage structures
- Nursery Farms follow a strict bio-security program that consists of showering in
- Temperature, Feeding and Ventilation is controlled automatically
- Water meters monitor and record water usage - a nursery farm uses 1/2 gallon/water/day/piglet
- Adequate tillable land for manure application is required
Finisher Farms:
- Pigs arrive between 40-50 pounds
- Stay in the finisher barn for approximately 19 weeks
- Leave at approximately 265 pounds
- Typical barn sizes: One barn = 2,180 pigs or Two barns = 4,360 pigs
- Manure can be stored under the barn in deep pits or it can be stored in outside storage structures
- Temperature, Feeding and Ventilation is controlled automatically
- Water meters monitor and record water usage - a finisher farm uses about 2 gallon/water/day/pig
